Radio talk show host readies for
Global Adventure
on board his Nordhavn 55

Renowned financial advisor and radio talk show host, Keith DeGreen, will embark on an around-the-world journey on his Nordhavn 55 next week, effectively taking his listeners along for what he has dubbed
The Global Adventure. DeGreen, whose radio show “The Keith DeGreen Personal Finance Show” based in Phoenix, Arizona, has set his Nordhavn up as a floating beacon, equipped with a sophisticated onboard broadcast studio and audio-video edit suite, so he can continue to broadcast his show from any point around the globe. The show airs Sunday mornings on radio station Newstalk 550 KFYI in Phoenix, but anyone can tune in online at
www.KFYI.com.
The concept behind
The Global Adventure,
says DeGreen, is to use the journey as a unique source of inspiration and information for his audience. At 57, he hopes to motivate baby boomers like him, who are ready to face the next chapter of their life. “[The trip] is an aspirational lifestyle of the market I serve,” he said. “But while I’m doing it, I’m taking advantage of the opportunity to learn about world economics,… politics, culture and investment opportunities at each port of call.
The goal is to empower our listeners and website visitors to make informed choices about their international portfolio.”
DeGreen, along with his three crew members (including two licensed captains), will depart Shelter Island in San Diego on April 1 around 11 a.m., shortly after the conclusion of his show. His schedule calls for stops at more than 25 ports, including Shanghai (pending permission from the PRC), Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Male (The Maldives), Dubai, and Cairo near the Suez Canal. In many of the locales, DeGreen will meet with local investment analysts and elected officials to discuss their area’s financial and political climates.
DeGreen hopes to enter the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal by April 1, 2008, but says the trip is, infact, “open-ended”. He looks forward to exploring the Med and will continue to broadcast for as long as there is interest.
An attorney and Certified Financial Planner, DeGreen has helmed his finance show for 19 years where an audience of about 45,000 tunes in each week, and also owned his own firm, DeGreen Wealth Management. After selling his company last year, DeGreen set his sights on his passions for boating, traveling and discussing finances. Thus the idea for
The Global Adventure
was born.
An experienced boater, DeGreen previously owned a sailboat which he rebuilt on his own, and a 32’ PDQ offshore catamaran. And when it came to researching a new boat for his adventure, the list was a short one. “As a financial planner, I was very interested in resale value, and Nordhavns hold their value,” he said. “But economics always takes aback seat to safety. Here, there’s a happy marriage.
“For me, there was no comparison.”
